In 2012 the Gold Butte Devil's Throat Wayside was created for The Bureau of Land Management by SK Schafer/Skydance Studio in collaboration with the Friends of Gold Butte (FGB), Mesquite, Nevada. Devil's Throat is a 120 foot wide and 120 foot deep sinkhole in the Gold Butte National Monument that formed by the collapse of an underground limestone cavern in 1908. FGB strives to promote the responsible enjoyment of the Gold Butte National Monument through education, stewardship, advocacy, and preservation of natural and cultural resources.
