Biographical / Historical Note
Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, initially owned by Guy McAfee, began operations in Las Vegas, Nevada in August 1945. Steven A. Wynn was appointed chairman and president of Golden Nugget, Inc. in 1973. Golden Nugget, Inc. began expanding throughout the 1970s and 1980s. On November 22, 1989, Wynn opened the Mirage Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. In 1991, Golden Nugget, Inc. began to shift their focus from casino operations to entertainment, changing their name to Mirage Resorts, Incorporated. As of 2019, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel and Casino remains in operation.

In 2019 as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Miguel Dominguez compiled the materials from multiple sources that included subject files. Miguel Dominguez wrote the finding aid and entered the data in ArchivesSpace. In 2023, Tammi Kim accessioned the 2023 addition and updated the finding aid.
