Biographical / Historical Note
Ameristar Casinos, Inc. was a casino operator based in Las Vegas, Nevada which ran hotel-casinos in several different states, including Nevada, Colorado, and Missouri. After the establishment of Cactus Petes Casino in Jackpot, Nevada by Peter “Cactus Pete” Piersanti, he incorporated the property as Cactus Petes, Inc. Piersanti eventually sold his stake in the company, which evolved into Ameristar Casinos, Inc. In 2013, Ameristar Casinos, Inc. was bought by Pinnacle Entertainment, which itself was bought by Penn National Gaming in 2018 for approximately $2.8 billion.
