Biographical / Historical Note

Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino was opened in 1966 by Jay Sarno, a hotel mogul. Sitting across the street from the Flamingo Hotel and Casino and former Dunes Hotel and Casino, Caesars offered a completely new theme to the array of casinos on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Greco-Roman style palace was successful from its opening day, but four years into its operation, Jay Sarno sold the property to help pay for his next venture. Caesars Palace has continued to thrive by adapting to trends on The Strip.
