Acquisition Note
Materials were donated in 2016 and 2022 by John Levy; accession numbers 2017-010 and 2022-083.
Processing Note
Material was processed by Special Collections staff. In 2017, Tammi Kim provided a preliminary assessment of the material, created a rough inventory of the containers, and wrote the collection description. In 2018, Jimmy Chang reorganized and rehoused the physical materials, and revised the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
In 2018 and 2019, Jimmy Chang, Karla Irwin, and Alyssa Maldonado processed the digital materials stored on 3.5" floppy discs, zip disks, and optical discs. After ingest, duplicate and system files were removed. Personnel files were also removed as they likely contained protected employee information. Multiple files failed to render properly, and access copies were not created.
Finally, access copies were created by Jimmy Chang. The computer-aided design file types DWG and DXF were converted into the PDF/E format. The document and text-based file types DOC, XLS, and TXT were converted into the PDF/A format. The image-based file types TIF, BMP, and PSD were converted into the JPG format. Some files that did not originally have file extensions were modified to have their proper respective file extensions to be opened properly.
In 2022, Tammi Kim ingested digital files off 3.5" floppy disks, zip disks, and optical discs. Several disks were unable to be read and were not ingested. After ingest, Sarah Jones organized the materials based on preliminary list provided by the donor. No access copies were made during the time of processing, as software was unable to convert CAD files to a stable format.
