S tThoraas, Nevada ,Oct.15th, 1918 Mrs badie B.George Los Angeles,Gai. ^ear Madam It is probabley something like a month since I received yonn letter from Orro Grande, but not haveing anything of interest to write 1 have delwyed untill the present. The salt option was finally closed a few days ago,by all narties here signeing and returning the papers to Mr Toland in Los Angeles, excepting the placeing of all of the certificates in the bank under the escrow, which may be done any time up to the 25th, I now have little faith that it will amount to anything but a waste of time, owing to its haveing dragged along for nearley three months, andMr Perkins says his people had grwon tired of waiting and wre negotiating for other salt.He has not yet divulged who they are,but I think there is no connection between them and any one who wants the magnesite, herewith 1 am encloseing you acoApnyotice of forefiture which we all signed and which I have this day forwarded to Stewart by Registered &&&&£ mail,I have again taken liberties with your name by signeing it to the said notice of forfeiture,as vour agent,In the enent it does not meet with your approve!,you can,vou know, have me jailed for it. The others all determined to sever the lease, and I felt sure that under those circumstances, you would not care to have your interest tied up to Stewart, just by itself, and would approve my action.which under the circumstances, you will, for there were some other people negotiating for a deal and we could not do anything until! this matter was cleared up,and I was a fraid to delay while the papers reached you and were returned here, in serveing the notice on Stewart I informed him nothing would be done for a week or such a matter, and that if by the end of that time he could show tangable evidence of his ability to put the deal over in the very near future it was probfcble he would be given the chance. Therefore if he really had any thing under way he will report it,if not we may as well quit and be done with him. Lont know for sure that we will get anything with the others,or just what the chance will be,but. the owners here have determined not to miss any reasonable chance to dispose of their interests, under which they can get some money. A fellow associated with the ^isenmiers ,your city, claims to have a process and has asked for terms, dont know what he will be able to show,Am under the impression, that if a sale is made it will be with the eastern parties. Have cancelled the lease with Bigelow and Main, and served notice on them to pay up within 30 days, No doubt Toland informed you he had tendered his resignation as President and director of the company, At, the directors meeting field for closeing the option, his resignation was accpeted and E.H. Syphus was,by unanimous vote appointed director, untili M s successor is elected and qualified. The office of ^resident was not filled, Am sure you can secure the appointment to the position,if y o u will effect the proposed”consolidation with Mr Eonelli"(?) Ahe law suite over the waters of the muddy river hasr^ now been definitley settled and fixed for the 14th of Jan.1019.and alj on the stream will be brought in to it.I have ^on over the question of your right with counsel for our company here, and we have agreed that if you care to do so,vou can be brought in to the case under proper stipulations, and have vour right defined and adjudicated with the others, that is to say,the Muddy Valley Irrigation Company lias no fight to make on your right, which we understand to he'only for the lands now actul&lly irrd gated, which Mr Annner will survev and map for you,if you write him to do so,at once while he has a force on the ground surveying all of the rights in that section, and in that case the cost to vou would be very 11+tie,I mean for* the survey, and the cost of comming in under such stipulations would also be very light, I suggest, however, that you go over the situation with Judge Toland or* some other attorhey in whcme you have confidence, Mcftamee for instance (?) and if they approve the idea,it would save you the expence of sending on an attorney etc. 1 will vouch for Mr Tanners honesty in the matter, and vou can sute yourdelf in the metter of haveing him make the survey,Tf vou conclude to have him &&& mkae it you shor'd write him at once while he has the men on the job.Possibley, tho, you will not care to take the gurantee of a man who has just forged vour name. Am sending this to your old adress, under the Impression that you have returned to the city. Hope you have injoyed vour farming experiance, and found it likewise profitabl©,With the request that you excuse my useing both sides of the only scrap of paper I have on hand 1 will wring off, Very truly yours § CO f ; Mr Alonzo L.Stewart Dos Angeles,^al* Dear Sir:- Under the terms and provisions of that certain lease, on and for the"Prosperity"JSuccess"^Magnesium" and “Magnesite’* groups of mining claims(situate in the ^tihomaseiningDistrict, Clark County,Nevada),the property of the unders1med,given to you by the said undersigned, duly executed, and of date the 10t.h day of October,A.D.1917,You agreed under the terms of said lease,to, on or before the 1st day of November,A.D.1917, pay to the undersigned the full sum of One ther to,on or before the fTihrosuts andday Doolf laerasc h (a$n1d, 0e0v0e)r,ya nyde aarc reduerdi nfg-urthe life of said lease, to do and perforem not. less than $100.00 worth of work and labor upon each of said claims, and to also take and remove therefrom a certain stipulated tonnage of material, during certain definitley stated periods,as named in said lease, Because of the fact, that you failed to make said payment of money to do and perform said work and labor uron^ said claims,or any of them and also failed to take and. remove from them the tonnage stipulated, you are hereby notified that said lease is forfeited and that all of your rights thereunder are hereby cancelled and completely at pjc an end;And you are hereby further notified that on or before the 1st day of November,A.D.1918,the undersigned wtihlelr eorfe.-enter said claims and property and take full possession StThomas,Nevada,O c t .|§t h ,1918 By her attorney in fact
