U Baci? \ J Milieu oda A U ega?, evada For Immediate Release October 8, 1979 Contact: Ann Zorn 756-7876 Alice Locicero 451-4842 The League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley is sponsoring an energy education program focusing on nuclear energy on Thursday, October 18 at the Cultural Arts Center Auditorium at 800 Brush St. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. Coffee will be served from 9:00 a.m. Moderated by the League and presented by the Nevada Section of the American Nuclear Society, the program highlights presentations by panel members on the basic tecnoigy of nuclear power generation, a comparison of the benefits and problems associated with alternative power sources, and the problems associated with the disposal of high-level radioactive wastes. A question and answer session will follow the presentations. The League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley has no position at the present time on nuclear energy and is presenting this program in a continuing effort to explore the options and dilemmas associated with each energy source. All interested and concerned persons are invited to attend this program. There is no charge.
