McDermott, Las Vegas, Lincoln County, Nevada. Dear Mr. McDermott:- I have yours of the 28th ult., and in reply beg leave to advise you that in my opinion it makes very little difference if the creek does run off the property in places, provided there has been no use or appropriation of the water by the owner or owners of the land through which it may run. This fact would not prevent the owners of the Vegas ranch from changing the course of the creek or from conveying the water by flumes or pipe lines. I would advise that this be done as soon as possible if it is found that the creek does actually run off the land in places. I am pleased to note your determination to see that there is a fair deal all around, and you may rest assured that I will stand by you to the end. I suggest that in making the survey the old boundaries and fence lines be carefully noted and shown on the plat . I will do as yet suggest and send copies of your letter and the letter accompanying it to Mr. J. Ross Clark. I have heard nothing from Mrs. Stewart in regard to the State Land patents. Do you know whether they have been received and also whether she has sent them to be recorded ? I suppose you have given her to understand that all changes and alterations in the deed must be made before it has been finally executed.
