Mrs Sadie 5 George Lob Angeles*Calif* St.Thomas,Nevada May Jth ,1929 Dear Madam:- , , * ? „ « Saturday laBt I wrote and mailed a le tte r to Dr Neel, intended fo r both he and you rself, with reference to representations made me "by Mr Sucker for Independent Salt Company, and also re citin g conclusions reached by the d irectors here concerning said representation s. Rucker reported to me,as per le tte r I sent Dr Neel, that the fir e insurance companys did not care b teke the risk o f insureing our m ill, That is companys situate within th is state with headquarters ,or agents at Las Vega^f. WORKS: SALVATION SALT PLACER MINE ®/?\S St. Thomas, Nev.r i _ 190_ Mrs Sadie B George Los A ngeles,C alif, Dear Madam Yours received, Thanks for the information and advise therein contained, Cant say about the •/arba'* ,but I am some fiendfrf fo r the beans, High blood pressure, however, is not my trouble,Myn'e being that o f a normal man o f 20 years, It is ju st an excess o f bone in my cranium, some o f which is missplaced The salt royalty fo r the month o f May was paid on or about the 5th inst,And Mr Sucker wrote me that he had renewed the indu strial insurance, and was moving to secure the fir e insurance, and further that i t is there intention to fu lle y comply with the terms o f the lease, It would therefore seem the l i t t l e controversey may have resulted in some good. But I am c°nvinoed i t is advisable to keep matters up to scratch with them, At least I have not yet come to place fu lle s t confidence in thdir concern. I am o f the opinion, however, that they are sincere in wanting to make some money out o f the lease, and to do it ,that is anything in a large way, they have to keep going u n till you know; I may say to,that we are lik le y up against i t i f ever this lease f a ils , therefore,! there may come a time when we w ill have to help them over some rough places , but i t should not be done u n till i t can be shown oon olu eiv ley ,it is a necessity in order to keep the lease frwom fa ilin g . The B/F/fBonellis estate has now been closed to the point o f the court isueing it s order o f distribu tion o f the property, a c e r t ifie d copy o f whic$ order wag presented yesterday, together with Franks c e r tific a t e fo r the 250 shares o f h is stock, and three new c e r t ific a t e s ,o f 83,1/3 shares each was issued to t h e //^ ] three h eirs, resp eotiv ley . Mr George Bonelli was here with Mr Perkins, and made demand to become one o f the directors o f the dompany, I advised him, that the stockholders meeting would occure in October fo r the election o f o ffice rs,a n d a ll he would have to do would "be to appear at that time with the neces-sary number o f votes for his ele ctio n . He enquired among other things, i f the City o f Los Angeles,or the southwest had ever made an o ffe r for the property, I rep lied no, and suggested to him, that the thing for the southwest to do would be to help leasees to get out a l l o f the ealt p ossible before inundation came, and that i f and when, the question came up as between him self and sou, candidate for Mayor o f your c it y , it might be advisable to mention such to him. I dont know what he was fish in g fo r , but there ie something back o f his question. In any eventIhe is very desirous o f becomming a member o f +v v i of * • •**» sugg_ d tha, Mr Perkins be retained aa such, I informed him that such was a matter en tirley at the d isposition o f the stockholders o f the company and could a ll be taken care o f at the reglar stockholders meeting. 4 oar o f material and equipment cam in a few days ago, and has now been moved down to the sa lt d ep osit,I suppose its in sta llation w ill soon be under way,and the washing plant set in operation. I have not been down for quite' sometime now,but probabley w ill be going before long. Have our part of. the magnesite work nearley completed, and expect the whole o f the required work to be completed in ample time. Very tru ly yours P.S. Please give Dr Heel the news, such as there is .a s 1 havent time to write him this morning. L.W.8. W ill just say a few words,on th is seperate sheet, with reference to Miss Neels stock c e r t ific a t e s , And that is,th a t earn were deposited with you as company treasurer, subject to the"further order o f the hoard o f d irectors" The Dr wrote me sometime ago, saying, the matter was k eft en tirley to me,in so far as he and his siste r were concerned, and to say ju st what she should do to have the ce r tific a te s delivered to her^.In reply to which I wrote suggesting that upon her making a duly acknowledged ce rtifica te ,a n d delivering same to the company , ce rtify in g the stock was hers e tc, the board would no doubt turn over the stock. I am not at a ll sure such proceedure is necessary, But I wanted to see what r e a c t io n would be had from i t . There does not seem to be a d isposition to folow my suggestions altho I was adgised i t would be done. The thiig the company is up against is th is, The stock was not delivered to the company by Miss Neel h e rse lf, i t is endorsed in blank, in what is seemingley her signature, and before giving i t up the company, should be sure i t is going back to her, that is reach her and go into her posession, unless the company has a proper order from her to deliver i t elsewhere. It w ill be better for the company i f she does make demand for# the stock, aijs&o i t is not necessary for her to do i t , in the s tr ic te s t sense. The board w ill no doubt give i t up at the next meeting at which a ll,o r nearley a ll o f the directors are present, but ehe company does not have her adress,Up to date the Dr has not seen f i t to deliver it,a n I do not lik e to ask him for i t . I am ^ot saying at a l l that Dr is not s trio tle y straight in the matter. But he did give me to understand that h is siste r had suffered a serious break down some ye&rs a go,and w^u some what nervous. I think every thing is a l l rig h t, but the stock cannot be turned over without an# order from the board to that e f fe c t ,without making you personalley lia b le fo r i t . There is a regular meeting o f the baord the f ir s t monday in July, and quite possibley i t can be taken care o f at that time. But in the mean time we w ill see what turns up, I am sa tisfie d thihe stock belongs to Miss Neel. But i t is in the oompanys posession, and i t has no legal right to d e liv er,or turn i t over,to any one but h er,or upon her demand. We dont know her adress, it has not ben forth comming. I am sa tisfie d the Dr is straight in the matter, but i t seems the matter w ill have to rest where i t iB u n till the July meeting. By the way, Bonelli and Perkins were very anxcious that the dividend be declared o f what l i t t l e money is on hand. I rep lie d,that i t was n t worth while to go to the expence o f a meeting before July, and i f at that time the directors saw f i t to declare one i t could b be then done. I have not yet written Andrews for his b i l l but w ill do so soon. L.W.S. VIRGIN RIVER SALT CO. in c . e^S OFFICERS and DIRECTORS T. O. TO LAND, P rbst.
