I did not want to go for some weeks yet but after receiving to pressing letters from Mr W.W.W Bass of Williams Ariz. in which both of which he urged “important reasons” for going at once, and taking into consideration the published reports that these Indians were in a starving condition I decided that it was my duty to investigate without delay. I started from Williams on the morning of August 31.
