188 8. of letter dated August 12th to viz:- You are hereby advised that authority has been granted for you to spend a sum not exceeding $500.00 In obtaining pupils for your school and for the transportation of said pupils to your school xxxx. I supposed this gave me ample authy but even had I thrown that it did not I think I should have it one the same in the Interest of economy. At least sixty (60) of my pupils live from 25 to 100 miles from the school. Had I paid their transportation on the river it would not have cost less than $125. Had I hired wagers- I have none at
