Nevada Assemblyman, Senator, and Regent, Dr. Jack Schofield was born in 1923 and passed away in 2015. In 1941 he graduated from Las Vegas High School, married Alene Earl, and became the Golden Gloves welterweight boxing champion. He earned a bachelor's of science degree from the University of Utah in 1949, a master's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1967, and a doctorate in education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1995. He served in World War II as B-25H Mitchell bomber pilot for the United States Army Corps, flying 44 missions as a member of the "Flying Tigers." He also served in the Clark County School District as a teacher, coach or administrator for over 40 years, and was recognized in 2001 with the naming of Jack Lund Schofield Middle School. In addition, he served as an Assemblyman in the Nevada State Legislature in 1970-1974 and Senator 1974-1978. In 2003-2014, he served as a Regent for the Nevada System of Higher Education. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had 6 children, 29 grandchildren, and over 50 great-grandchildren.
