Interviewed by David Schwartz. Joe Friedman worked in Caesars Tahoe, first as a cashier in the nightclub and later as a dealer. He also spent six months dealing in the casino on the Cyrstal Harmony. Joe moved to Las Vegas and worked at various casinos such as the Hard Rock, Green Valley Ranch, Wynn, Palms, and MGM as a dealer, pit manager, and an assistant shift manager. Description

Oral history interview with Timothy Dickhudt conducted by Barbara Tabach on March 13, 2018 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Timothy Dickhudt discusses his move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2017 for a fellowship at the University Medical Center in Southern Nevada (UMC). He describes the night of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting, how he was called into work almost immediately after he arrived home from his shift, and his gradual understanding that a mass shooting had occurred on the Las Vegas Strip. Dickhudt also talks about operating on a family acquaintance from his home state of Minnesota who had attended the concert.

Oral history interview with Katherine M. Joseph conducted by Claytee D. White on October 25, 2004 and September 05, 2007 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. Joseph discusses dancing in Paris, France with Josephine Baker and working at the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino during its heyday. Joseph also discusses race segregation in Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1950s and of the burgeoning and bustling African-American communities and neighborhoods.

Debra Leu interviews his friend, agriculture teacher, Ferren W. Bunker (born June 16th, 1918 in Bunkerville, Nevada) in the Bunker home. In addition to being born in Bunkerville, Bunker has lived in Reno, Caliente and Las Vegas, Nevada. During the interview, Bunker discusses early above ground atomic tests, economic and environmental changes, and his heritage as a native Nevadan pioneer and old-timer. Employment is also discussed, as he describes what it was like working as Clark County Cooperative Extension Agent, in the early days.

On April 12, 1977, collector Mark French interviewed Nanyu Tomiyasu (born May 28th, 1918 in Las Vegas, Nevada) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In this interview, Nanyu Tomiyasu discusses growing up and working on his father’s (Bill Yonema Tomiyasu) farm in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also discusses how his father came to Las Vegas and being one of the few Japanese families in Las Vegas as a child.

On March 2, 1980, collector David Mowrey interviewed Barbara Millington (born July 3rd, 1937 in Oak Creek, Colorado) at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this interview, Mrs. Millington discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her family and working various jobs including at Vegas Village and becoming a bookkeeper at a construction firm. She also speaks about the changes she has seen in Las Vegas, such as how casinos were when she first came here compared to how they are now. She ends the interview talking about the need for Las Vegas to find industry outside of gaming. She discusses the need for young people to come back after going away to college to improve the city.

Candice Bush interviews Lucy Alires, born in Pecos, New Mexico in 1941, about her experiences as a Spanish American who lived in Henderson after moving there with her husband. Alires describes the growth of the city, including Carver Park, and discusses some of the discrimination faced by Latin and African American citizens that she witnessed. She also mentions some of the changes in the Las Vegas Strip over time, including the presence of Latin Americans in the hospitality workforce.

In this interview, Brislin discusses her family background and upbringing in Redwood City, California. She remembers moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1991, her involvement in the Jewish community, and going on a trip to Israel. Brislin talks about joining the Anti-Defamation League, becoming the Regional Director of the organization in 2015, and her mentors at the time. Lastly, Brislin discusses the rise of hate acts towards minority groups across the country, and the issue of cyber-bullying.
