Abstract

Oral history interview with Jacque Olvera-Deki and Richard H. Deki conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on March 18, 2024 for the Reflections: the Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. In this interview, Richard and Jacque describe their early lives, moving to Henderson, Nevada in 1997, and being in close proximity to both the 1 October and December 6 shootings in Las Vegas. Digital audio and photographs available; no transcript available.

Broudy, Charles A. (-1977)

United States Marine Major Charles A. Broudy served in WWII as a pilot in the Pacific theater. He was among the first to land in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the atomic bombs were dropped. He was attending radiological school in San Francisco, California when he met his future wife, Alice Patricia "Pat" Sutton. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in 1949. Major Broudy served in the Korean War and then was stationed at El Toro Marine Base in Irvine, California.
