Oral history interview with Daniel Connell conducted by Shirley Emerson on November 18, 2013 for the West Charleston Neighborhoods: An Oral History Project of Ward 8. In this interview Daniel Connell discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954, marrying his wife Linda after returning from the military, and moving to the Westleigh neighborhood of Ward 1 in 1973. He also talks about his family life, the state of his neighborhood throughout the years, and being hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Oral history interview with Kerin Rodgers conducted by Suzanne Becker and Claytee D. White on February 17, 2009; August 11, 2011; and August 16, 2011 for the Voices of the Historic John S. Park neighborhood. Rodgers shares her story of arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of a retail job with The Broadway stores in 1966. Rodgers speaks about her involvement with the Focus Youth House, First Fridays and art, and gives a perspective of police, criminal behaviors, and changes in the neighborhood over the years.
Oral history interview with Evelyn and J.C. Gamble conducted by Claytee D. White on August 31, 2010 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Evelyn discusses living on the Westside in the 1950s and describes the development of that area. J.C. recalls his years in the United States Air Force and experiences stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. Lastly, J.C. describes why the Westside was off limits for active Air Force members, and the two speak about their employment at the Nevada Test Site.
