Abstract

Oral history interview with Donna and Tom Martin conducted by Claytee D. White on January 31, 2013 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. The Martins discuss moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 1950s as each of their parents sought new opportunities and graduating from Rancho High School in 1962. Donna Martin then discusses her career as a secretary and her volunteer work as part of a woman's group she belongs to. Tom Martin discusses working in the office of a steel company, and later running a tire store.

Oral history interview with Greg Venezia, Virginia Velasquez, David Peinado, Dale Pryor, and Rosemary Christian-Keach conducted by Claytee D. White on September 29, 2014 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. A group of five bartenders discusses their craft in Las Vegas, Nevada, including their Union membership, the first women in the trade, and the family of bartenders. Topics that the five bartenders touch upon also include training, health benefits, and the future of bartending.

Viot, Jewel Maynard

Jewel Maynard Viot was born on August 18, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Maynard married Sidney on July 12, 1955, and they had three children: Barbara, David, and Carol.

Viot served in the United States Army. Viot also earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He worked at General Electric for 22 years. He was a senior engineering specialist at Edgerton, Germeshausen, and Grier (EG&G) for 21 years.

Warmerdam, Cornelius

Bio taken from Wiki: "Cornelius "Dutch" Warmerdam (June 22, 1915 – November 13, 2001) was an American pole vaulter who held the world record between 1940 and 1957. He missed the Olympics due to World War II, and retired from senior competitions in 1944, though he continued to vault into his sixties. In 1974 he inducted into the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame."

Ligouri, Steven, 1962-

Steven Ligouri was born February 22, 1962 and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He’s an artist whose creations can be enjoyed at such places as the Hoover Dam, where his famous High Scaler sculptor sits comfortably. Ligouri began mastering his trade making jewelry with assistance of his father, Bruno Ligouri, who owned a turquoise shop in Boulder City, Nevada.
