"Desert Aces" fatal plane crash: video

Description

Local news reports on a fatal plane crask during a simulated"dog fight". Wayne Pollack (NTSB Investigator) provided some information about the crash and status of the plane prior to crash. Interview with witness of the crash, and speculation about why the plane crashed is discussed. Footage of the crash site are shown, and information about the victim's families are also shared. Second segment discusses the identities of the two victims, and states the FAA is continuing the investigation. Third segment also reports on the identities of the victims, and state it is still under investigation. Desert Aces, the company, does not comment. The Lincoln County Archaeological Initiative Collection (2016-2019) contains digital files of oral histories collected as part of A Ranching and Farming Context for Lincoln County, Nevada, ca. 1857 to 1934 (Oliver et al. 2018). The collection consists of thirteen digital oral history recordings and corresponding transcripts, as well as a final report of phase one of the project. The entire collection is digital files.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) University Parking and Traffic Control Committee Records (1969-1992) contain meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, parking regulations, and newsletters. The UNLV Parking and Traffic Control Committee reviewed various policies and regulations for UNLV parking facilities and made recommendations for parking lot and traffic flow changes, as well as parking fines and permit fees.

Abstract

The Fraley Family Collection of Las Vegas, Nevada Films and Photographs (1956-1995) include 8mm photographic films of the Helldorado Parade and Hoover (Boulder) Dam in 1956, color photographic prints of the construction of the Fremont Street Experience in 1995, and one color photographic print of the Tower Casino at the State Line in 1976. The 8mm film footage was taken during a family vacation and also includes exterior shots of casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.

Oral history interview with Katherine L. Rankin conducted by Claytee D. White on June 16, 2014 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In the interview, Rankin discusses her childhood, her move to Las Vegas, Nevada, and her career as a librarian. Rankin talks about how she began her library career on the Gila River Reservation in Arizona before accepting a position as an audio and visual materials cataloger at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in the 1970s. Rankin later describes her work with the American Library Association, getting tenure at UNLV, and her role as a map cataloger in UNLV Special Collections and Archives.

Materials in this collection (1969-1989) document various endeavors of the Operation Life organization. They include original correspondence, meeting minutes, news clippings, medical programs, grant applications, legal and financial documents, brochures and pamphlets, and other materials that provide context on the kinds of services provided by Operation Life. These files were kept by Jack Anderson in the course of his work as attorney for Operation Life.
