Description
Tucson, Arizona, native David Ober moved to Las Vegas twice. He arrived reluctantly the first time in 1978 with his parents as a high-school student, when his father, Hal Ober, came to Las Vegas to begin building and marketing the U.S. Home (now Lennar) brand. While the elder Ober soon left U.S. Home to open his own home-building business, R.A. Homes, his youngest child left Las Vegas shortly after his high school graduation to return to his native Tucson, follow in the footsteps of his siblings, and attend the University of Arizona. After graduating from the University of Arizona David Ober opened his own mortgage company and began building a life in Phoenix. In the late 1980s he agreed to take a large pay cut, return to Las Vegas, and learn his father's business from the ground up. At the time, Hal Ober was developing his award-winning, master-planned community, Desert Shores. The Brian Jones Collection of Henderson, Nevada Aerial Photographs contain 107 4"x6" photographic prints of Henderson, Nevada and the surrounding area from approximately 1997 to 2002 taken by longtime Las Vegas, Nevada photographer Brian Jones. Images depict the construction of residential areas, roads, and commercial buildings. Other images include the Green Valley community, Galleria at Sunset Mall, St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Titanium Metals Corporation (TIMET), and Henderson City Hall. Lastly, there are images of parking lots, industrial areas, and airport runways in Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Young Audiences New York, Nevada Humanities Photograph Collection (approximately 1970-1979) contains black-and-white photographic prints, slides, and negatives of the Las Vegas, Nevada chapter of the Young Audiences New York arts organization. Images include scenes of concerts, workshops, and chapter outings at public parks. There are images of specific bands within the chapter such as the Brass Quintet, Vocal Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet. Lastly, there are images of celebratory banquets honoring members of the Las Vegas chapter.
