Oral history interview with Hazel Shadowen conducted by Patricia van Betten on March 30, 2004 for the History of Blue Diamond Village in Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Shadowen discusses her personal history and moving to Blue Diamond, Nevada in the late 1930s. She describes her husband's employment at the Blue Diamond and Searchlight, Nevada mines and living at a mining village. Shadowen talks about the cost of living at the time, medical services in the mining village, and resources that were provided for the residents.

Oral history interview with Georgia Adras (b. 1916) conducted by Robin L. Hayes on March 02, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Adras relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada from Farmington, Utah in 1936. This interview covers education, religion, ad raising a family in Nevada. During the interview Adras also discusses the building of the Boulder Dam, road conditions, grocery shopping in the early days, and the Strip.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Priscilla Alexander conducted by Norman Vallata on 1976 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Alexander was born in Southern California, and in approximately 1952 Alexander relocated to Nevada with her aunt and her uncle who worked in the gambling industry. During the interview Alexander discusses gambling ships in Southern California, early above-ground atomic testing, Nevada’s gambling industry, buffets in the early days on the Las Vegas Strip, and working for Howard Hughes.
