The Nevada Banking History Collection (1870-1976), compiled by the First National Bank of Nevada, ontains correspondence, checks, deposit slips and other documents related to early bank operations in Nevada. There are also newspaper articles, published materials and photographs relating to the history of banks in Nevada from 1870 to 1976.

The Nevada Banking History Collection appears to have been compiled by the First National Bank of Nevada. Biographical / Historical Note
The First National Bank of Nevada was initially chartered under the name Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Reno in 1903. Over the course of several decades they incorporated a number of other Nevada banks into their operations. In 2008, the bank was closed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was named as the receiver. In that capacity they entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with Mutual of Omaha Bank, Omaha, Nebraska, to take over all of the deposits and certain assets.

Materials were received periodically from 1978 to 1986; accession numbers 1978-144 and 1986-003.
Processing Note
Materials were inventoried by Karla Irwin in 2016. In 2017, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Chris Bruce rehoused and arranged the materials, and revised the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
