Dr. Anita Tijerina Revilla is an associate professor for the College of Liberal Arts in the Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies. She is a Queer Chicana scholar whose work has focused on student activism, Chicana feminism, joteria, and the Latinx educational pipeline.

Salgado, Sergio (Sergio Checko), 1970-

Sergio “Checko” Salgado was born in Las Vegas, Nevada at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, a hospital whose name is unrecognizable to the majority of the people that now make Southern Nevada their home. Although the building still operates today, it is known as the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, Nevada’s Level I trauma center and one of the largest public hospitals in the United States.

Cohen, Burton M., 1923-2014

Burton Cohen (1923-2014) was a casino executive in Las Vegas, Nevada who held management positions at iconic Strip properties such as the Frontier, Desert Inn, Flamingo, Caesars Palace, Thunderbird, and Dunes. Cohen grew up in Miami, Florida where he graduated from the University of Florida. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps and trained as a pilot. After returning to the United States he enrolled at the University of Miami and earned a law degree in 1948.

Wells, Herbert C., 1927-2010

Herbert C. Wells was born April 11, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska. After his father was killed in a plane crash in 1931, his mother moved herself and Wells to Los Angeles, California to be near her husband's parents. They moved several times, but the goal was always to find good schools for Wells and his sister.

Antonio, Marie Antoinette, 1970-

"Interviewed by Cecilia Winchell and Stefani Evans. Marie Antonio was born in 1970 in Cagayan de Oro which translates to Golden Friendship. Her father was a doctor who worked as a government employee while her mother was a piano teacher who inspired her love for music and piano at the young age of four. Her grandparents lived on a small island where they would visit for holidays and celebrations, and in her free time she spent her days embracing the beautiful nature of the Philippines and playing outside.
