On March 19, 1978, John (Sonny) Le Jeune interviewed John (born 1904 in Trail Creek, Idaho) and Mabel Dillingham. The two provide many historical accounts of Las Vegas, Nevada, including John’s work on the railroad, the development of the city, and their living conditions when first moving to Las Vegas. The three also discuss prominent members of the community, recreational activities, church membership, and popular attractions around Las Vegas. Other topics include the building of Hoover Dam, the site of the Stewart Ranch, early irrigation systems, flood control, and Block 16.
The UNLV Libraries Collection of Gaming Industry Promotional Materials and Reports (1946-2019) includes press releases, promotional materials, press kits and clippings for hotels and casinos located throughout Nevada, with the majority of Nevada-based properties located in Las Vegas or Reno. Other locations include Atlantic City, New Jersey and some international hotels and casinos. The collection also contains promotional materials for various Nevada-based gaming companies and corporations, such as press releases, press kits, and product brochures.
Oral history interview with Justin Beltram conducted by David G. Schwartz on July 07, 2016 for the Slot Operations Oral History Project. Beltram describes how he transitioned from a property role to a corporate role and some of his mentors throughout his career. Beltram also discusses his different approaches to local and transient customers, the major changes in general to slot machines since he started in the industry, and his thoughts on the future of slot operations.
