Abstract

The Governor’s Conference on Nevada’s Library and Information Needs Collection (1978-1979) consists of the Nevada Libraries Your Winning Card scrapbook containing photographs, correspondence, and newspaper articles documenting the conference. Included are advertisements and fliers promoting “Speak Outs” along with resolutions and final reports on the success of the conference. Also included are Speak Out day tracks, slides of the events, and a booklet dedicated to Nevada’s delegates.

Abstract

The UNLV Libraries Collection of Chinese and Soviet Union Communist Party Publications (1960-1968) consists of small format publications in English by the Chinese and Soviet Union Communist Parties. Topics covered in the literature include labor disputes, trade unions, housing, higher education, and general education about the Communist Party. The majority of the material is published by either the Foreign Languages Press in Peking or the Novosti Press Agency Publishing House in Moscow. The collection also contains three issues of Peking Review and an anti-Vietnam War pamphlet produced by the Socialist Workers Party.

Also included are his Naval records from the service as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserves during and after World War Two.

The materials address water conservation plans, pollution alleviation efforts, and strategies to clean the Las Vegas Wash and Las Vegas Bay in Nevada.
