Biographical / Historical Note
The Huntridge Theater is a historic building in Las Vegas, Nevada. The theater was designed by S. Charles Lee and opened on October 10, 1944. It was operated by the Commonwealth Theater Company of Las Vegas, and later the Huntridge Theater Company of Las Vegas. Both companies were headed by Thomas Oakey of Las Vegas. The theater was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1993. In 2004, the Huntridge Theater closed despite efforts from non-profit organizations to renovate and keep it open. Since 2012, the Huntridge Foundation has attempted to raise funds to preserve the theater.
