The Anita Freeman Photograph Collection on Southern Nevada (1937-1972) primarily contains black-and-white negatives depicting locations in Southern Nevada, including the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and Mount Charleston. The collection also includes black-and-white negatives of the Helldorado Parade held in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as landscapes in Arizona, such as the Grand Canyon.

Oral history interview with Elaine and Robert Gallagher conducted by Rod Leavitt on an unknown date in 1974 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, the Gallaghers discuss moving to Southern Nevada with their families. Robert describes his father’s employment at Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam), and Elaine recalls the construction of the Basic Magnesium Plant in Henderson, Nevada. They describe above-ground atomic bomb testing, entertainment in Las Vegas, Nevada, and social life. Lastly, the two recall population growth in Las Vegas and the increase of casinos along the Strip.

Darrell Luce discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with his family in 1932, the history of Las Vegas, the testing of nuclear weapons, Basic Magnesium Inc., Carver Park, the construction of Hoover Dam, and businesses in early downtown Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Paul Huffey conducted by Claytee D. White on February 02, 2010 for the Voices of the Historic John S. Park Neighborhood. Paul Huffey discusses his family moving to the John S. Park Neighborhood in 1947, his father working on the construction of Hoover Dam, and Huffey working at Ronzoni's Department Store when he was in high school. Huffey then discusses graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno and teaching history at Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada for nine years.

Oral history interview with Joe Carlson conducted by Allen Carlson on October 11, 1972 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Joe Carlson talks about how his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1921 so that his father could work on the railroad. Joe discusses education, occupations, family life, and the social, economic and environmental changes of early Las Vegas. Joe also mentions presidential visits, the crash of Carole Lombard’s plane, early atomic tests, the old Mesquite forests, Fremont Street and the building of Boulder (Hoover) Dam.

Oral history interview with Therese Courture Thomas conducted by Roberta F. Zaplatilek on February 29, 1980 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Thomas discusses her family history and arriving to Boulder City, Nevada in 1930. Thomas describes housing in Boulder City and explains that people needed to build their own homes in the 1930s. She then discusses prostitution becoming illegal in Nevada, the Helldorado Parade, and the construction of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam). Lastly, Thomas recalls how her musical career began and entertainment in casinos.

Oral history interview with Clark Crocker conducted by Monica Lehman on March 3, 1978 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Crocker discusses his family and educational background as well as his experiences attending school in California and Massachusetts. Crocker then describes the building of the Hoover Dam and his career as a teacher and school principal, as well as his thoughts and philosophies on how curriculum should be structured in schools. Crocker also discusses his work for the fire department in Pahrump, Nevada and his career as a frogman and navigator for the United States Navy during World War II.
