The images were recorded as part of a survey of substandard residential dwellings built in the then racially segregated communities of the Westside and Vegas Heights in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The MGM Grand Hotel Fire Photographs (1980) is comprised of twenty-eight photographic prints of the MGM Grand Hotel fire, which occurred on November 21, 1980. Photographs show the hotel-casino on fire as well as the resulting damages to the property. The photographs were taken by the Tracinda Corporation which was MGM Grand Hotel owner Kirk Kerkorian's investment holding company.

The photographs are primarily panoramic views of the town, mines, and landscape around Pioche, where Janney was president of Pioche Mines Consolidated until his death in 1967. The photographs also depict the baseball field in Pioche, a train crossing the desert in Lincoln County, and the Lee Family.
