Resolution by the Las Vegas Valley Water District to amend part of their agreement between Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company, Union Pacific Railroad Company, and Las Vegas Land and Water Company. The June 1, 1953 document stated that one of the conditions by which the agreement could be terminated was if the bonds were not sold by December 31, 1953. Nobody had brought up the issue of mineral rights during the negotiations for the water district purchase. To do so now would be a mistake. Even if oil was found on the property, the land's location would almost make it impossible to take advantage of.
