The Elton and Madelaine Garrett Photograph and Architectural Drawing Collection contains photographic prints and architectural drawings of Boulder (Hoover) Dam; Las Vegas, Nevada; Boulder City, Nevada; and other locations in the American Southwest from approximately 1927 to 1990. The photographs primarily depict Hoover Dam's construction and areas around Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and Boulder City during the 1930s and 1940s. The bulk of the architectural drawings and maps are projects and diagrams related to the planning and development of Boulder City, Nevada between 1943 and 1985.

The majority of the collection material focuses on problem gambling and were copied from psychology, psychiatry, and addiction journals originating in the United States and Europe. Original dates of publication range from approximately 1837 to 1999. Other topics include tourism, southern Nevada history, and Howard Hughes' influence in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Abstract
The UNLV Libraries Collection of Chinese and Soviet Union Communist Party Publications (1960-1968) consists of small format publications in English by the Chinese and Soviet Union Communist Parties. Topics covered in the literature include labor disputes, trade unions, housing, higher education, and general education about the Communist Party. The majority of the material is published by either the Foreign Languages Press in Peking or the Novosti Press Agency Publishing House in Moscow. The collection also contains three issues of Peking Review and an anti-Vietnam War pamphlet produced by the Socialist Workers Party.
