Person

Dayan, Ruth

Taken from Wikipedia: "Ruth Dayan (born March 6, 1917) is the founder of the Maskit fashion house and is active in many social causes. She was the first wife of the late Israeli defense force General and politician Moshe Dayan."

Person

Dungan, Flora

Flora (Turchinsky) Dungan (1917-1973) was a Nevada Assemblywoman and University Regent who successfully sued the state of Nevada twice in order to gain additional representation for Clark County in the legislature and the Board of Regents (the governing board of the state's university system). As a result of Dungan v. Sawyer in 1964, seats were reapportioned in the Nevada legislature and Clark County gained four seats in the Assembly and seven in the Senate. After Dungan sued Nevada again in 1967, Clark County gained the majority of seats on the Board of Regents.

Person

Jackson, Jesse, 1941-

African-American civil rights activist and politician

Person

Joyce, James "Jim", 1937-1993

Between 1973 and his death in 1993, Jim Joyce managed campaigns for some 300 candidates, and lost only about 10 percent of them. Having helped elect so many legislators, it is not surprising he was the most effective lobbyist ever seen in the state Capitol. Victorious politicians and fallen rivals thought him a genius. He was certainly imaginative. Which brings us to those garbage cans.
