Nelson, Lorelle, 1941-

Lorelle Nelson was born on April 29, 1941. She did extensive research into atomic testing and co-edited the 1987 book, The Mushroom Cloud and the Downwinders. As of 2020, Lorelle Nelson still resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nelson, Laralee

Laralee Nelson was born June 10, 1953 and was raised in Provo, Utah with her fourth sisters in a Mormon household. Her parents worked at Brigham Young University (BYU) and she attended the university. She was nearly 30 years old when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1983 with her husband. This move was her first real move from her Utah home base. She spent summers at an archeological dig in Israel while studying for her undergraduate degree, but these were nothing compared to relocating to Las Vegas.

Patrick, Elizabeth Nelson

Elizabeth Nelson Patrick was born on April 27, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana. During her life, she was a historian for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as well as a member of many historical societies. After her retirement, she moved back to Indiana to be closer to family. She passed away there in 2001.

Description

On October 18, 1974, James M. Greene interviewed Murl Emery (born June 7th, 1903 in Bolton, California) at his home in Nelson, Nevada. Also present during the interview is Mrs. Emery and Mr. Dutch Eckhart, a guest who has just arrived to visit with Mr. Emery. The interview covers Mr. Emery’s personal experience in and around Southern Nevada, particularly in the areas from Searchlight, Nevada to Nelson, to Boulder Canyon, but mostly on the Colorado River. Mr. Eckhart also helps to interject some insight into the popularity of the Model T Ford in those days and early days of newly paved roads. Additionally, they discuss water shortage, wells, the building of the railroad, and mining in Nevada. Mr. Emery also discusses the books that were written about his adventurous life, his discoveries and his explorations.
