Description

The dormant Fontainebleau Las Vegas on the Strip. The Fontainebleau was announced as the Las Vegas version of a classic Miami Beach hotel. Construction started in 2007, and stopped in 2009. In November of that year, financier Carl Ichan purchased the unfinished Fontainebleau out of bankruptcy. The following year, he sold off the fittings and furnishings purchased for the hotel. In late 2015, the Fontainebleau was listed as being for sale.

Following the October 1, 2017 killing of 58 people at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas community responded in a variety of ways. This series of photographs document the impromptu memorial created at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign.

The Las Vegas Monorail Records (1971-1980) consist of articles, newspaper clippings, agency reports, and correspondence concerning the 1970s effort to construct a Las Vegas, Nevada mass-transit monorail system. Materials document the project conception, development, and ultimate failureroughout the 1970s.

Abstract

The UNLV University Libraries Collection on Las Vegas Show Costume Design is comprised of work from several desginers who created costumes for various Las Vegas, Nevada shows. The designs are undated but appear to date from the 1940s to 1970s. The collection includes works from the following designers: Jean Devlyn, Anne Guertin, Larry Merritt, Ladd, Josephine Spinedi, Corrado Colabucci, and also includes unsigned designs from unknown artists. The collection also designs for Matt Gregory Productions. Most of the designs do not include show information.
