The Ned V. Bearden Sr. Photograph Collection contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of early Las Vegas, Nevada Fremont Street hotels, casinos, as well as Las Vegas businesses and residences between approximately 1940 to 1960. These photographs detail air conditioning units installations by Bearden throughout Las Vegas.
The Barbara and John Kizziar Photograph Collection primarily contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) construction during John Kizziar’s time working for Six Companies Inc. between approximately 1986 and 1992. These images are reproductions of originals taken from between approximately 1930 and 1945. They detail John Kizziar’s work life during the dam’s construction, as well as events and scenes associated with the dam. Other images portray billboards and streets in Boulder City, Nevada. The collection also depicts other locations in Nevada, including Las Vegas, Mount Charleston, Black Canyon, the northern Mojave Desert, and the Colorado River ferry crossing between Nevada and Arizona.
The Blue Diamond History Committee Collection (1920s-2012) contains materials related to the history of the Blue Diamond Mine and nearby village located about twenty-five miles outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection contains materials including environmental reports, photographs of the mine and its employees and their families, maps, a photocopy of a diary, mine operation records and accident reports, community calendars, and correspondence and property documents of the local post office.
The Jim Ratigan Collection on Mike Miller (1982-2014) is primarily comprised of materials representing Mike Miller's involvement with creating Hey Reb! the official mascot for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1982. Materials include meeting minutes from UNLV's mascot committee, various renditions of Hey Reb! created by Miller, newspaper clippings, as well as printouts of email correspondence from Miller to Jim Ratigan about the story of how he came to create the mascot. The collection also includes a copy of Miller's book, Larry the Last Leaf and a print of his painting, "Drawn to His Light." Also included are copies of programs for Miller's memorial service.
The James Cashman Sr. Photograph Collection (approximately 1905 to 1975) consists of black-and-white photographic prints, negatives, slides, and albums as well as a glass plate negative. The photographs depict four major subjects: Cashman's family, friends, and associates; Cashman's businesses; the Hoover Dam and Colorado River; and various locations across Nevada.
The UNLV University Libraries Collection on Techatticup Mine (1914-1923) is comprised of administrative and financial records associated with the Techatticup Mine, located in Clark County, Nevada south of Nelson, Nevada. The administrative documents include business reports, prospectuses, and assays. Administrative documents also include foreman reports, insurance records, warehouse inventories, correspondence, and notes relating to equipment, food, employment, and taxes. Financial records include account balances, payroll, purchasing records, statements, bills, receipts, and company vouchers.
The UNLV University Libraries Collection of Aerial Photographs (1943-1998) contains aerial photographic prints primarily of the Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, as well as other locations outside of Las Vegas including Laughlin, Nevada and Arizona.
The UNLV Libraries Collection on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Runnin' Rebels (approximately 1982-1991) is comprised of materials commemorating the UNLV Runnin' Rebels men's basketball team, including a gubernatorial proclamation from Governor Richard Bryan, a poster of the Runnin' Rebels' 1982-1983 men's basketball season highlights, a color slide of President George H.W. Bush remarking on the National Collegiate Athletic Association's semi-finalist teams, and a commemorative “UNLV Rebels Final Four 1991” t-shirt.
The Evan and Kathy Thompson Photograph Collection depicts Beatty, Nevada, Rhyolite, Nevada, and Keane Wonder Mine, California around 1925. The photographs include the Rhyolite Bottle House, mining operations in Rhyolite and Keane Wonder Mine, and citizens of Rhyolite.
The John G. (Jack) Fogliani Photograph Collection is comprised of two black-and-white photographic reprints created between approximately 1971 and 2004 of the natural landscape of Eagle Valley, Nevada. The original photographs were taken between approximately 1900 and 1920.
