Description

Las Vegas School, grades K-8, 1924. Las Vegas School previously housed all grades, including high school students in a separate wing during the early 1900s. Research suggests that the high school was later separated into a different building. That school, named Clark County High School and then renamed Las Vegas High School, was constructed in 1917.

Children and teachers stand outside the Goldfield Public School for a picture. Along the side of the photo reads: "Goldfield Public School - This building is of stone guarried from the stone quarry near Goldfield. Total cost, $20,000. Equipment of the class rooms, $5,000. There are five class rooms with a seating capacity of about 60 scholars to each room. Goldfield has a regular attendance of school children of 350. Board of Education. Mr. C. H. Beesley, President. The Educational and Program Materials Series dating from 1980 through 1992 contains brochures, articles, fact sheets, and clippings about various subjects, including abortion, birth control, family planning, sexual education, sexually transmitted diseases, and teen pregnancy. It also contains information about educational programs and the groups that hosted or participated in them, such as Cooperative Extension Program, Chamber of Commerce Las Vegas Youth Leadership Program, Community Lutheran Church Program, Insight Teen Theater, National Family Sexuality Education Month, and "Let's Talk" Pre-Teen Program.

Abstract

The Las Vegas High School Reunion Biography Collection (1983) consists of class rosters, biographies of graduates, and photocopies of original programs from the four graduating classes of 1933 to 1936. The information specific to each year is compiled into its own handmade scrapbook. The materials were created for the 50th reunion of the class of 1933, and the event also included the classes of 1934, 1935, and 1936.
