Interview with Max Goot by Charles Collins, March 22, 1976. In this interview, Goot talks about how he came to Las Vegas in 1945 and purchased Stoney's Jewelry, which he sold in 1951, and then bought Tinch Furniture Store. He was friends with Hank Greenspun and active in local politics and community affairs, including Temple Beth Sholom. He talks about selling the former Beth Sholom building at 13th and Carson Streets to the Greek church, and other fund raising activities. He speaks briefly about atomic tests, and the growth of the city.

This study was conducted in 2005 to better understand the Jewish community in Southern Nevada. The themes of the study include population growth, population geographic shift and dispersal, Jewish youth, Jewish identity, increasing synagogue membership and general participation in Jewish causes.

On February 27, 1981, Edward Gentry interviewed Marie Jordan in her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two discuss social differences between Arizona and Las Vegas, particularly in the ways schools were segregated in Las Vegas. Jordan also discusses the “Whites Only” policy on the Strip and Downtown. The interview concludes with Jordan sharing her views on the importance of helping others.

On April 4, 1976, Terri Lynn Truesdell interviewed real estate worker Charlotte M. Kelly (born July 18th, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah) in her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, about her memories of early Southern Nevada. The two discuss local history that Kelly had experienced as well as Kelly’s reasons for moving to Nevada. Kelly concludes the interview with a conversation on population growth and Nellis Air Force Base.
