Norman C. Jensen Collection

Abstract

The Norman C. Jensen Collection, dated from 1867 to 1968, contains documents discovered by Norman C. Jensen at Fort Taylor, Florida. The collection includes a copy of the "Report of a Guard Mounted at Fort Jefferson, Florida on May 28, 1867" that describes four individuals accused of conspiracy in connection with the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The collection also contains an original report entitled "Quarterly Report of Artillery Inspection of Fort Taylor, Florida" dated December 31, 1903, and Lt. Col. Jensen's notes explaining the military abbreviations contained within the original report.

Pacifica Hotel Collection

The Pacifica Hotel Collection (1981-1985) contains newspaper clippings, correspondence, and contracts on the Pacifica Hotel, the first resort geared specifically towards the LGBTQIA+ community in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection also includes one optical disc with a compilation of Las Vegas television news stories from the summer of 1985 about the Pacifica Hotel project.

The Kendall Stagg Collection (1998-2000) consists of material documenting Kendall Stagg’s political races in northern Nevada and also details gay activism in Reno. The collection consists of Stagg campaign materials, a t-shirt from one of his campaigns, and documents pertaining to the Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Student Union at the University of Nevada, Reno and Gay Pride parade organizing in Reno.

The Wilner Family Collection is comprised of audiovisual material on real estate in Las Vegas, Nevada collected by Las Vegas real estate agent, Linda C. Wilner. The collection includes informational videos for real estate agents and promotional showcase materials on various real estate developments around Las Vegas including Summerlin, Lake Las Vegas, Turnberry Place, Park Towers, Sun City Anthem, Sun City MacDonald Ranch, and Christopher Homes. This collection also contains a digital surrogate of a scrapbook commemorating Linda Wilner's uncle, Leo Wilner, and his retirement as executive director of Temple Beth Sholom in 1984.

The Robert B. Griffith Collection (1928-1975) documents the work of Robert B. Griffith, an instrumental figure in the development of water resources in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as the creation of McCarran International Airport and Nellis Air Force Base. The collection consists of Colorado River Commission papers, 1928 International Air Race documents, general correspondence, a feasibility study, an airport guide, American Legion papers, the memoirs of Alfred Merritt Smith, and death and burial records belonging to his father. The collection also includes slides from various countries, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The Sandstone Ranch Collection is comprised of bank statements, letters, correspondence, and photographs relating to the Wilson family from 1907 to 1941. The collection includes information about the financial aspect of the Wilson Ranch, later renamed the Sandstone Ranch, located outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection also includes information about the personal lives of those working on the including contracts about grazing cattle, selling cattle, and appropriation of water.

Abstract

The George Petri Collection (approximately 1977-2010) contains food and beverage management manuals and employee instructional documentation from various resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada including Empress Casino, Harrah's Entertainment, Luxor, and Station Casinos. The materials were collected by George Petri, who was a Maître d'hôtel at the Regency Room restaurant at the Sands Hotel and Casino and also worked at other resorts in Las Vegas. Materials also include artifacts such as silver plated dinnerware from the Regency Room and various menus and memorabilia from the Sands Hotel over the years.

William Barak Collection

The William Barak Collection (approximately 1962-1989) contains photographs of Barak and colleagues while working E.G. & G. at the Nevada Test Site and in Alaska from the NERVA (Nuclear Rocket) Division and the last two tests in Amchitka (Milrow and Cannikin). The collection also contains numerous government publications, manuals, and maps relating to Barak's work.

The Daly v Daly Collection documents materials produced for and as a result of the lawsuits between Suzanne Daly (formerly Tim Daly), a male-to-female transgender woman, and Nancy Toews Daly from 1980 to 2003. The collection primarily focuses on the motions filed with the Nevada District Courts and Nevada Supreme Court and transcripts of the divorce, the battle for parental rights, and an allegation of civil rights violations.
