Oral history interview with Elmer H. Nighswonger conducted by Larry Davis on April 02, 1976 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Nighswonger discusses the history of the Las Vegas Fire Department and describes his experiences as a firefighter. Nighswonger then discusses the El Rancho Casino fire, and the effect that it had on Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Arlene Mathews Smith Papers are comprised of materials pertaining to the area around Panaca, Nevada, dating from 1917 to 1978, with a bulk of the items from the 1920s. The papers were collected while she lived in Panaca and consist of records and booklets from the 4-H Boys and Girls Club, two copies of the "Lincoln Lantern" dated 1927, and memorabilia.

Oral history interview with Earl G. Heron conducted by Claytee D. White on November 22, 2024 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. Heron recalls his childhood in Queens, New York, where he learned automobile mechanics from his father. He used that knowledge to become a mechanic on fighter planes for the United States Air Force. Heron was stationed for some time at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also was stationed in San Antonio, San Bernadino, Wichita Falls, and Fort Bragg. He became a flight engineer and took part in Red Flagg War Games Training while stationed at Nellis AFB. Digital audio available; no transcript available.

Oral history interview with Dennis Wilson conducted by Lisa Gioia-Acres on October 2, 2007 for the All That Jazz Oral History Project. In this interview, Wilson discusses his early life in Arabi, Louisiana and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1971. He recalls playing a variety of woodwind instruments for Wayne Cochran, the C. C. Riders, and traveling across the United States during the 1970s. After traveling internationally for a brief period, Wilson returned to Las Vegas and began playing for bands in Las Vegas casinos. He recalls working on musicals such as Avenue Q, Spamalot, and Phantom of the Opera. Lastly, Wilson discusses teaching music as a paraprofessional at Johnson Junior High.

The Key Pittman Correspondence, dated 1933 to 1940, consists of correspondence between U.S. Senator Key Pittman via his clerk James A. White and various constituents who sent him books on a variety of subjects.

The Joel Mur Collection of Red Rock Canyon (1980-1984) contains newspaper clippings, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) newletters and press releases, magazines, and correspondence relating to Red Rock Canyon Recreation Area. Joel Mur was the Interpretive Specialist for Red Rock Canyon Recreation Lands (BLM) at the time of donation.

This collection in unprocessed. See Access Note for more information. The Oakes Las Vegas Studio Photographs [UNPROCESSED] consist of a sample book of photographic postcards by Oakes Vegas Studio. It contains images from the 1920s through 1937. Images depict general Las Vegas scenes, Fremont Street, Hoover Dam, desert areas near Las Vegas, Native Americans, Native burial sites, the Lost City, Lake Mead, and more.
