Oral history interview with Dr. Dolores Glick conducted by Roberta Threatt on November 29, 2003 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Dr. Glick reflects upon her career as an elementary and high school principal in New York. She discusses her transition from being an elementary school principal to being a high school principal, and the process by which she eventually became a guidance counselor for Nevada’s Clark County School District. She describes her regular responsibilities as principal, her approach to school administration, and her working relationship with teachers and parents. She also compares working in New York with working in Nevada, and discusses contemporary challenges within schools such as drugs and violence.

Collection is comprised primarily of files from approximately the early 1980s to 2017 detailing Joshua Abbey's theater and film career; his involvement with environmental efforts in Southern Nevada such as the Citizens Against Nuclear Waste in Nevada (CANWIN); and his involvement with the Jewish community in Las Vegas, including the Jewish Film Festival, the Jewish Federation, Temple Beth Sholom, and other organizations. The collection also includes information about the Jewish Community Center from the 1950s and a file on the film production of
Archival Collection
Materials consist of the New York-New York Hotel and Casino's documentation of the "Heroes of 9-11" memorial that was at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada from 2001 to 2012. These items include notes or letters to the casino, photographs of the memorial, newspaper articles, and press and promotional materials.
Archival Component
The New York-New York Hotel/Casino opened on January 3, 1997, and is a MGM Resorts International property. It is located on the Tropicana-Las Vegas Boulevard intersection with the MGM Grand Las Vegas, the Excalibur, and Tropicana Las Vegas. The New York-New York was the first casino on the Las Vegas Strip to be a “city themed” resort and had cost $485 million to build. The hotel/casino was modeled after the New York City skyline and includes the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and Ellis Island Immigrant Receiving Station.
