Harlig, Shea, Rabbi

Rabbi Shea Harlig (1965- ) founded Chabad of Southern Nevada in 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chabad of Southern Nevada is a branch of Chabad-Lubavitch, a worldwide Orthodox Jewish outreach organization. Rabbi Harlig previously lived in Brooklyn, New York, where he was born, raised, educated, and ordained.

Greenblatt, Gertrude, 1915-1981

Gertrude "Gee Gee" Greenblatt (1915-1981) was a hospitality manager at several Strip hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada. She moved to Las Vegas with her husband in 1953 and worked as a waitress in the showroom of the Sahara Hotel for a year and five months. After leaving the Sahara, Greenblatt held several different positions, including head waitress at the Silver Slipper dining room, hostess at the Westerner Club, and manager of the Sands Hotel coffee shop.

Kaufman, Barbara, 1941-

Barbara Kaufman (née Raben) was born on August 01, 1941 to Hymen Raben and Harriet Goodman. She married Bernard Kaufman on March 26, 1961. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1968. Barbara and Bernard have two children together, Carrie and Andrew Kaufman. Barbara focused herself on raising their children, Carrie and Andrew, and once the children were in their teens, she went to work for her brother as a bookkeeper. Barbara, as of October 27, 2014, is still a bookeeper.

Fried, Joni, 1955-

Joni Fried was born November 09, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her parents, Milton and Esther Fried, owned Freed’s Bakery. She grew up in Paradise Palms and became one of the third-generation owners of her parents’ bakery.

Joni is married to Fred Jones. They have two children: Matthew Scott Eichenfield and Sarah Charlotte O'Briant-Fried.

Rodgers, Kerin Scianna, 1936-

Political activist Kerin Scianna Rodgers was born on March 14, 1936. She aided the Democratic party with campaigning in Nevada for state positions from 1974 through 1986. Rodgers worked with Flora Dungan as her campaign chairperson and served as the President of the Women’s Democratic Club of Clark County. She was successful in her campaign for University Regent District E and held a position on the Nevada Democratic Central Committee.

Frehner, Merle, 1905-1994

Merle Frehner was born on July 20, 1905 in Littlefield, Arizona, the son of two Mormon settlers. In 1910, the Frehners moved to St. Thomas, Nevada. Along with his family, Merle Frehner drove freight teams and transported ore and other mining supplies. Frehner later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and started a Ford car dealership. Frehner married Beulah LaVon Conger in 1930 in Utah. Merle Frehner died on January 10, 1994, in Las Vegas.

Marsh, Jim

Jim Marsh was born December 25, 1933 in Denver, Colorado. His father was the chief for the Colorado Patrol and his mother lived in Nebraska, so he split his time in both places while growing up. He was a service member of the United States Army upon his discharge from the service, he started working with his father at a Ford dealership.

Romans, Sophie Bogdanovich, 1934-

Sophie Bogdanovich Romans was born in Washington, Utah in 1934 to Rosa Zahner and George Bogdanovich. She moved to Blue Diamond, Nevada as an infant, where she lived for many years. She has three siblings--George D. Bogdanovich, Angie Bogdanovich DeLong, and Nina Bogdanovich Wolters. She married Herbert Romans in 1951 at the Little Church of the West (Las Vegas, Nevada). She has five childresn, Richard, Sandra, Christina, Robert, and Linc.

Wright, Clinton, 1940-

Clinton Wright was borni in Altheimer, Arkansas in 1940. In 1959, after attending the University of Arkansas, Clinton Wright came to Las Vegas. He did various jobs at first and then settled in as a financial planner for A. L. Williams and eventually as a photographer for the Las Vegas Voice, an African American publication. He took photos there for fifteen years, photographing local events and news.
