Description

From the Harvey's Hotel and Casino Postcard Collection (PH-00367) -- A collage with the title "Greetings from Stateline - Lake Tahoe." Inscription with image says, "Whatever is required for vacationing pleasure, you will find it at Lake Tahoe. Just across the Nevada border, from California at State Line, are the exciting casinos and gaming clubs open 24 hours a day. Their nightly shows feature big time entertainment."

Abstract

The interviews in this original radio series were produced by the Folk Arts Program of the Nevada Arts Council (then Nevada State Council on the Arts) in 1986, in partnership with KUNR (Reno), KNPR (Las Vegas) and KOLO (Reno), and with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the State of Nevada. Scripting, editing, photography, and production were by folklorist Blanton Owen. Narration was by Deb Spring, KOLO Radio (Reno). The series consists of thirteen short segments documenting aspects of the traditional life and crafts of Nevada residents. A supplemental printed program provides additional information about each interviewee.

Abstract

The Pueblo Grande de Nevada Manuscript Collection (1924-1983) contains journal articles, photocopies of artifact inventories, reports, correspondence, and field notes related to the Pueblo Grande de Nevada archaeological site located in the Overton Valley of Southern Nevada. The bulk of the materials are related to Mark R. Harrington's archaeological reports, journal articles, and data from sites throughout the Overton and Moapa valleys. The collection also includes materials related to the Boulder Dam Park Museum (Lost City Museum of Archaeology) located in Overton, Nevada, which housed many of the artifacts and photographs from Harrington's archaeological sites.
