Abstract

Oral history interview with Leonard Stubbs conducted by Jay Brewer on April 09, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Stubbs begins by describing his father's history as a merchant in Boulder City, Nevada, life in Boulder City during the construction of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) and World War II, and what the local school system was like. Stubbs discusses how Boulder City has developed economically through commerce, how the city has grown, and owning his own businesses. Stubbs concludes by talking about the formation of Lake Mead and the Mormon Church's history in Boulder City. Rose Stubbs, Leonard's wife, contributes some additional comments.

Description

Oral history interview with Leslie Mujica conducted by Barbrara Tabach on June 2, 2020 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project and The Great Pause: Las Vegas Chronicles of the Covid-19 Pandemic. In this interview, Mujica talks about her childhood growing up in Guatemala and immigrating to Southern California with her family in 1980. She discusses her move to Las Vegas in 2005 and her employment history both in nonprofit work and in construction, which led to the pursuit of her current position as the Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Las Vegas Power Professionals. Leslie also shares her educational history with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It is where she obtained her Master's Degree in Public Administration and where Leslie currently serves as a board member of the Latinx Voices Project and the Alumni Legacy Board.

Oral history interview with Emory Lockette Sr. conducted by Dennis McBride on March 17, 1996 for the Boulder City Library Oral History Project. In the interview, Lockette discusses his work as a draftsman, civil engineer, and hydraulics engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation. He then describes his working conditions at the Bureau of Reclamation and administrative-level conflicts.

The Janice Fallman series (1954-2005) contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, schoolwork, a scrapbook, and materials from Fallman's childhood activities. The correspondence and newspaper clippings primarily focus on Fallman's involvement with the Las Vegas High School Rhythmettes dance team. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, correspondence, planning materials, and photographs about the Rhythmettes. The school work and materials from Fallman's childhood document her time at John C. Fremont Junior High School and Las Vegas High School, and her involvement in the Children of the American Revolution and Camp Fire Girls.
