Description provided with image: "Customs operation set up at Hughes West Terminal, Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1968. Las Vegas was designated as an International Port of Entry in 1972. At the time this operation was set up Scandinavian Airlines brought delegates from 128 foreign countries to Las Vegas for the American Mining Congress."

Transcribed from attached press release: "HUGHES TEST-PILOTS SECOND XF-11. CULVER CITY, Calif., April 5. Preparatory to making its first flight test today, Howard Hughes, famed flier-industrialist, is shown in the cockpit of the second XF-11 sister ship to the plane in which he almost lost his life in an accident last July 7. Hughes designed and built the ship, one of the world's fastest long-range reconnaissance planes for the Army Air forces in conjunction with the Air Materiel Command engineers."

Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "Just before world fliers landed, Floyd Bennett Airport, N.Y. -- A small army of policemen pictured on the runway here shortly before Howard Hughes and his four companions landed, ending their Round-The-World flight.
