Description

Local news reports on the Stardust Hotel having heating system trouble in the new high-rise tower. The resort hopes to have heat on soon, but is having trouble relocating guests due to a 100% occupancy rate. The second segment discusses the cold weather is cuasing many shows and entertainment spectacles to be put on hold. The Mirage Volcano waterfalls are iced over, and the "Lido" show was cancelled due to frozen and burst water pipes. However, Scott Andrus reports that the dolphin habitat at the Mirage are at 72 degrees. Original media VHS, color, aspect ratio 4 x 3, frame size 720 x 486. Transcribed from attached press release: "Howard Hughes, right, noted aircraft designer and industrialist is shown for the first time on the flight deck of the famed Hughes flying boat, which he designed and built. It is the largest airplane in the world. The plane is now nearing completion on Terminal Island, in Los Angeles-Long Bay Harbor, May 12, 1947." Los Angeles Harbor is now known as Long Beach Harbor, California.
