Notes from the donor, Dennis McBride: Kelvin Atkinson came out on the floor of the Nevada Senate on April 22, 2013 while arguing against the state's proscription of same-sex marriage. On October 9, 2014 Atkinson and his partner, Sherwood Howard, became the first same-sex couple to marry in Nevada. Atkinson resigned his office on March 5, 2019 over accusations he misappropriated campaign funds for his personal use. He was convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison on July 18, 2019. ... Ruben Kihuen was later elected to the U. S. House of Representatives from Nevada's District 4. Accused of sexual misconduct he did not seek re-election in 2018. David Wasserman in a Las Vegas dentist and cofounder of Congregation Ner Tamid. He was born on December 3, 1944 in Newark, New Jersey. In 1966 he graduated from Rutgers University with his bachelors in Zoology. In 1970 he recieved his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Upon grauation he served two years of active duty as a captain in the United States Air Force Dental Corps at Nellis Air Force Base. In 1972 he recieved his dental license and began his private practice that same year.
Arthur George Grant, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada since 1951, was involved in gaming businesses and real estate. Grant was part owner of the Nevada Club, established Honest John’s Casino, and was owner of Western Avenue Business Properties.
Musician and trupmet player Joseph "Wingy" Manone was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1900. He got his nickname at the age of ten when he lost his right arm when it as crushed between two streetcars. He began his musical career by playing kazoo in spasm bands on the streets of Storyville, Louisiana.
