The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino Records date from 1993 to 2005 and contain administrative files, gaming projects and systems files, promotional photographs, advertisements, and audiovisual materials pertaining to the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino. The collection also contains material for the Boardwalk under its various names, including the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino, Viscount Hotel, and Holiday Inn Casino Boardwalk.
A portrait of Judy Bayley, the location is unknown, but was most likely taken in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judith “Judy” Bayley, namesake of the Judy Bayley Theatre at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was once known as “The First Lady of Gambling.” Judy and her husband Warren “Doc” Bayley opened the Hacienda Hotel and Casino on October 17, 1956. After Warren’s unexpected death from a heart attack on December, 26, 1964, Judy Bayley took over the ownership and operations of the Hacienda. By doing so, she became the first woman in Nevada history to be the sole owner and operator of a hotel-casino. After Judy’s death from cancer on December 31, 1971, the Hacienda was sold in 1972. The Hacienda’s doors closed to the public on December 10, 1996. The hotel was imploded on December 31, 1996 on the 25th anniversary of Judy Bayley’s death, and was broadcast on the Fox news network as part of their New Year’s Eve 1996 telecast. In March 1999, it was replaced with the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

The photographs primarily depict Nevada Governor Vail Pittman and his wife Ida Louise “Liz” Brewington Pittman at political campaign and fundraising events, including the Helldorado Parade in Las Vegas, Nevada and at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, Nevada. The photographs also depict Governor Pittman with President Harry S. Truman, Jim Cashman, and family members. The photographs also include a group photograph of U.S. Senator Key Pittman with business executives representing the Union Pacific Railroad and the San Pedro Railroad. Lastly, the collection also contains family photographs of Ann Brewington, Ida Brewington Pittman's sister.
The Richard "Dick" Stabile Music Scores (1899-1986) is comprised primarily of musical scores arranged, composed, and performed by big-band leader and musician Dick Stabile. The scores, dating between 1941 and 1980, include popular music arrangements and original compositions, including original orchestra music for the documentary film Born to Buck. Also included in the collection are commercially produced popular music sheets published between 1899 and 1986.
