Abstract

Oral history interviews with Glenn Tredwell conducted by Barbara Tabach on March 04, 2016 and April 14, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In the first interview, Tredwell discusses his family ancestry and his Orthodox Judaism upbringing. He talks about his childhood in Atlantic City, New Jersey and describes his family’s Christmas tree farm, potato farm, and wholesale produce business. He talks about his move to Florida, working at Lum’s, a hot dog restaurant, and further explains the company’s franchise success. Tredwell recalls attending the University of Miami, becoming a landscape artist, and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1976. He describes going to dealer school, card dealing at El Cortez and Caesars Palace, and co-founding the Spina Bifida Association of Nevada. In the second interview, Tredwell discusses being the Director of Marketing at Caesars Palace and compares gambling from the 1980s to the 1990s. He talks about his involvement in casino boat operations and his partnership with Millennium Displays. Lastly, Tredwell discusses the progress of his most recent projects.

Oral history interview with Dr. Anthony Saville conducted by Dr. Robert Ackerman and Dr. Patrick Carlton on June 17, 2002 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Dr. Saville reflects upon his career in school administration. He describes the process by which he became an administrator, challenges that he faced before he became a United States citizen, and his eventual involvement with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He discusses his experience working as the Dean of Education with UNLV and his development of the Education program.

In this interview Lee Koury discusses his early life in Los Angeles, California. He then talks about working as a deputy Sheriff for Los Angeles County and how he dealt with the Charles Manson case during his career as deputy Sheriff. He then discusses his move to Missouri to become the United States Marshal for Missouri and then becoming a criminal court judge in Boone County, Missouri. He also discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2010 for retirement.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Stan Fulton conducted by David G. Schwartz on January 17, 2007 for the Slot Operations Oral History Project. In this intervew, Fulton discusses growing up in Maryland, his parents, his early education, military service, and working with his father as a young man. The majority of the interview revolves around his business career, the development of the first multi-line video slot machine and PC boards, or a Japanese company that operated pachinko parlors. He also talks about Bally Manufacturing, which controlled most gaming machines in Las Vegas, Nevada and difficulties finding entry into the market. He discusses his companies, primarily Fortune Coin and the Omega Company, the advent of "credit meters" that were the forerunner of today's coinless voucher and card systems on slot machines. He also relates a number of anecdotal stories about individuals in the Las Vegas gaming world, including Walt Fraley, Jay Sarno, Sr., and William "Si" Redd.

In this interview, Lillian discusses her personal history and experiences with her brother-in-law Jay Sarno. Jonathan talks about growing up with Jay and shares anecdotes of their childhood. Later, Jonathan and Lillian discuss the businesses that Jay was involved in, the opening of his various hotels and casinos around the United States, and the opening of Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lastly, the two describe how the hotels Jay founded in Las Vegas changed with new ownership.
