Materials include correspondence, news reports, project proposals, and reports for clients of Eugene Martin Christiansen, Christiansen/Cummings Associates, and Christiansen Capital Advisors from 1977 to 2015. The files are primarily comprised of correspondence, commissioned report drafts, and agreements between companies.

The additional accessions series (1953-2011) contains the ongoing accessions of the Mesquite Club records. They include meeting minutes and agendas, scrapbooks, newsletters, Evening and Junior Mesquite reports, rental records, building committee reports, financial documents, correspondence, and project files.

Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Jerry Tarkanian Dies
LAS VEGAS - Legendary basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, who took the Runnin’ Rebels to four Final Fours and brought home the national championship in 1990, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in Las Vegas. He was 84.
A campus memorial event is being planned. Details will be announced soon.

A tribute video to Don English, longtime Las Vegas, Nevada photographer who worked for the Las Vegas News Bureau. Produced for LVCVA by Jim Rose/Laguna Productions. Video begins with a group of people walking around a room, talking amongst themselves. Individuals speak to the camera, thanking Don English for all his work and share memories they have of English, going out to Lake Mead and working together at the News Bureau. Individuals include Kathy Espin, Terry Lindberg, Frank Mitrani, Rick Newman, and many other coworkers and photographers. Video transitions to a speaker sharing a history of Las Vegas while black-and-white video of English shooting celebrities on location at hotels and casinos in the 1950s and 1960s. Others go on to stand and speak about English and his kindness, hard work, and what a wonderful worker he was. Video ends with a thank you to Frank Mitrani for organizing the event and other monthly events; appears to be a gathering of the Las Vegas Media Group that Mitrani co-founded and ran until 2017. Promotional video that opens with camera panning along the Fremont Hotel's neon lights as it explains a brief history of how popular the downtown area is for tourists. A man in a suit welcomes the viewer to Sam Boyd's Hotel and Casino, claiming it is downtown's best value and the "Discover the Difference at the Fremont" song begins to play. Jerry Filipelli, Casino Customer Relations Director, appears and describes the many different gaming options available, and encourages guests to ask him for information on how to play, and for more information on the "Players Only" club. Voiceover explains many different gaming options while shots of the casino floor are show. Games include blackjack, baccarat, roulette, pai gow poker, craps, slots, and keno. After explaining gaming, the video describes the various cafes and restaurants available inside the casino and what the menus offer, including steak specials, buffet, and Chinese food, and Roxy's Bar with lounge acts. The video ends with instructions on how to establish credit at the casino, banking centers offered, how to sign up for the membership club, and gift shop. The Clark County Economic Opportunity Board (CCEOB), (1962-1973) was the regional legal body responsible for receiving and administering funds in Las Vegas, Nevada allocated under the Economic Opportunity Act, a part of the Johnson's Administration's War on Poverty Program. The collection concentrates on the high funding years from 1965 until the early 1970s, when the CCEOB disbursed funds to a variety of community action programs and organizations. Records are administration and project oriented and include meeting minutes, correspondence, financial and committee reports, personnel policies, job descriptions, funding information, appointments, program officer listings, as well as project applications and program descriptions.
