Transcript from interview with George Simmons by Claytee White on December 13, 2013. Simmons talks about how he came to Las Vegas in 1963, and his wife, Eva. Simmons was a designer for Sproul Homes and later worked for Holmes and Narver, an engineering firm. He discusses his education at Texas Southern and the University of Texas.

Oral history interviews with Ray Trousdale conducted by Chuck Williams on December 14, 2012 and July 31, 2013 for the Friends of Red Rock Canyon in Nevada Oral History Project. Trousdale begins the interview talking about his family and early life. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1940 and describes Las Vegas during the 1940s. Then, Trousdale speaks about meeting Buster Wilson and what he learned from him. He describes his time at Spring Mountain, Nevada and the history of the area. Lastly, he speaks about the Carole Lombard plane crash site.
Mike Gordon speaks about their liquor stores and lists his occupation as a bartender. Among the civic organizations that he participated in were: Young Democrats, Eagles Lodge, Lions Club, past president of Temple Beth Sholom and B'nai B'rith Lodge. Together Mike and Sallie recall the growth and changes of the valley they have witnessed between the early 1930s and mid-1970s. Among his anecdotes is one about the carrying of payroll checks to Boulder Dam to avoid "interference" (robberies).
Mike and Sallie were among the very first people of Jewish ancestry to make their way to Las Vegas. They arrived January 26, 1932 to join relatives of Sallie?s who had moved to Las Vegas when the Boulder Dam construction began. They had married in 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Soon they were involved members of a small but growing group of Jewish pioneers and helped found Temple Beth Sholom, the community?s first synagogue. Mueller discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband, Hal Mueller, in 1956 so he could work for the federal government as a meteorologist and was involved with nuclear testing. She also discusses raising their two children and her involvement in the Parent Teacher Association, Weight Watchers, and the League of Women Voters.
