Description

Mack and Will Foster, uncles of George Byron Foster. Handwritten description provided on a separate piece of paper: "Figures identified in reverse. Should be Mack and Will. Lived at Berlin not far from my home in Tonopah. Brothers very close all their lives. Lived into their 80s. Died within months of each other. Mack the eldest. Both small men. When Mack was in his late sixties or early seventies he went to visit Toxine's (sp?), a house of prostitution, when Tonopah still had a red light district, ca 1952. Mack carried brass knuckles and a sawed off revolver. He was a rough character. Died about 1962. Both miners. Had brother, George, and a sister." Description

The photograph was taken during the 64th session of the Nevada Legislature in Carson City, NV. The 64th session started on January 19, 1987. The original picture has handwritten inscription that says: "Cuz Bill, Esther Swartz, Gov.". The identified people on the photo are as follows: Nevada Assemblywoman Eileen Brookman (second woman from the left), her husband George Brookman standing behind her, Esther Swartz (first woman on the left) and the 25th Governor of Nevada Richard Bryan. The Great Seal of the State of Nevada can be seen in the background.

The phorograph depicts the ceremony of Colonel Harry Wald (2nd from left) from the Nevada Army National Guard receiving his Brigadier General stars in office of Lieutenant Governor of Nevada Harry Reid (right). Assemblywoman Eileen Brookman is pinning the General's stars at left. The approximate date of the photo is 1968. Photographer: LV News Bureau. There is handwritten inscription on the picture that says: "Thank you for pinning on my stars. Love, Harry Wald".
