Abstract

The Jean Ford Papers (1958-1996) include political documents, campaign materials for Jean Ford's political campaigns, and materials pertaining to campaign issues such as health services, general improvement districts, and parks and recreation. There is extensive material on Red Rock National Conservation Area, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and the National Issues Forum. Women's issues cover the years 1964-1981 and contain information relating to the League of Women Voters, Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and International Women's Year (IWY), as well as Anti-ERA and Anti-IWY materials.

Patent for South Goldfield, Nevada Townsite

The Patent for South Goldfield, Nevada Townsite Collection (1907) is a copy of a response to a townsite application for the area south of Goldfield. The application explains that the area can be an official townsite if the correct materials are collected and return to the County Clerk of Esmeralda County, Nevada by January 7, 1908.

Clark County Central Labor Council Records

Abstract

The Clark County Central Labor Council Records date from 1938 to 1968 and represent Ragnold Fyhen's written account of how the Clark County Central Labor Council union was formed. The work includes the activities and meetings of the labor union and Fyhen's work (1933-1947) while Secretary-Treasurer of the Central Labor Council. This work is entitled "Labor Notes." Additionally the collection contains a resolution submitted to the Central Labor Council in 1938 in regards to proposing new legislation to regulate the Clark County hospital.

Robert B. Griffith Escrow Papers for the Las Vegas Army Airfield in Southern Nevada

Abstract

The Robert Griffith Escrow Papers for the Las Vegas Army Airfield in Southern Nevada (1941) contain the escrow holder papers of Robert B. Griffith and A. Corradetti recording their purchase of forty acres of federal land located in Southern Nevada. The collection also contains receipts from the United States Department of War confirming the cost and deposit of the fee for the land. The land eventually became Nellis Air Force Base Airfield.

Edward W. Griffith and Ernest L. Fenner were the appointed election inspectors.

Abstract

The Las Vegas High School Tales of Las Vegas Collection consists of two hand-bound books written by the 1924 modern history class and the 1925 United States history class at Las Vegas High School. The two books, both entitled "Tales of Las Vegas", chronicle Las Vegas, Nevada history starting in the 17th century with the Spanish Jesuit and Franciscan Monks. The books then focus on the 1905 "boom" stage of Las Vegas, discussing topics including Mormons, Native Americans, and mining. The two books are similar in content but not identical, and both contain photographs of early Las Vegas, Nevada life.

The Nevada Burial Records of Stewart Ranch date from 1905 to 1913 and consist of a ledger recording those buried at Stewart Ranch in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entries in the ledger document the names of the deceased and where they died. Some entries have additional information explaining how the person died and their height and weight.
