Miller, Chris

Chris Miller is an anthropologist and a conservationist who worked at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area under the authority of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from 1984 to 1998. Miller graduated from Colorado State University in 1979 with a degree in history. In 1987, Miller enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and graduated in 1992 with a master’s degree in anthropology. As of 2020, Miller continues to work for the BLM in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Stuart, Joan

Joan Stuart is the wife of Robert Stuart and the last private owner of the Kane Springs Ranch in Moapa County, Nevada. She sold the land to the Bureau of Land Management in 2003. She also donated the collection of records and documents regarding the history of the ranch in 2009 to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Special Collections and Archives.

David Huntsman was the owner of Kane Springs Ranch located on the Upper Muddy River in the Moapa Valley of Clark County, Nevada. The Kane Springs Ranch, as it came to be called, was known for its large orchard and mining operations.

Walter E. Lundberg was born on November 27, 1894 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota and died on January 13, 1946 at the age of 51 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gragson, Bonnie, 1913-2007

Bonnie (Henley) Gragson was born February 8, 1913, in Mansfield, Arkansas, to James H. Henley and Elizabeth L. Cockrall Henley. She attended school in Mansfield, and married to Oran K. Gragson on December 21, 1934. The couple arrived in Nevada Christmas morning of that year, where Oran was employed in the construction of Hoover Dam. Except for brief periods in the 1930's when Oran was employed in highway construction in nearby Nevada cities, they lived in Las Vegas for more than 70 years.

Rogers, James E., 1938-

James Earl "Jim" Rogers was born on on September 15, 1938 and moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada from Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1953. Rogers graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1956 and eventually went on to earn degrees from the University of Arizona in accounting and law, a masters of law from the University of Southern California in 1963, and his doctorate of law from the University of Arizona in 1998.

Kepper, Anna Dean, 1938-1983

Anna Dean Kepper was Curator of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Library Department of Special Collections from 1973 until her death in 1983. After attaining degrees in museology and American folk culture from the State University of New York in Oneonta, New York, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973. Kepper was active in various university affairs and served on numerous committees including budget and planning, procedures and policy, public relations, the Museum of Natural History, and beautification.
